Product Safety Campaign of Britax Römer SMILE III and SMILE 4 Pushchair

7. august 2025

Safety campaign due to risk of front wheel detachment

At Britax Römer, the safety and satisfaction of our customers are our highest priorities. As part of our ongoing commitment to product quality and consumer safety, we have made the decision to initiate a voluntary safety campaign for all SMILE III and SMILE 4.
This decision follows the identification of a potential safety issue. Under certain usage habits, the front wheel locking mechanism can wear and result in the front wheel not being properly attached to the chassis. Other models like the SMILE 5Z pushchairs are not affected by this potential fault.

What should you do if you own a SMILE III or SMILE 4:

1. Check your pushchair

Perform the following simple steps:

Remove the seat unit or carrycot from the chassis. Then lift the chassis so that the front wheels are off the ground, and gently pull each front wheel to remove it

  • If the front wheels detach (without pressing the release button), please stop using your pushchair immediately and proceed with point 2 below to register for a replacement.

  • If the front wheels remain securely attached, you may continue using your pushchair, whilst you are waiting for the replacement. Please proceed with point 2 below to register.

2. Go to www.smile4-check.com to register your product. We will arrange an exchange of the SMILE III / SMILE 4 chassis for a SMILE 5Z chassis.

Please note that the seat unit and carrycot from the SMILE III / SMILE 4 are fully compatible with the SMILE 5Z chassis, allowing for continued use of your existing components.

For questions or concerns, please contact us at hello@britax.com. We apologize for any inconveniences that this may cause. We take the safety of our products extremely seriously and if we see any potential issues, it is our responsibility to act swiftly.
